Glenn VanNostrand graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. He was involved with implementing the “Smart Classroom” which was instrumental in online learning at every level of education. He has taken his understanding of information systems into the sustainable farming initiative, spending time on two organic farms to hone his understanding beyond the classroom and into the physical day to day operations of sustainable farming. From Maine to Florida, Glenn worked on farms which provided him with knowledge about the unique growing issues of both cold and warm agricultural climates. Each climate required different growing structures which included Hoop Houses, Greenhouses, and raised beds. He was part of the team that erected, maintained, deconstructed and relocated all of these structures during his time on the farms. He is instrumental in Visionary Alternatives initiative to provide environmentally sustainable, resource-efficient structures for various locations and climates. He is able to plan and design growing opportunities for every kind of environmental challenge. Glenn’s intentions are to cultivate the next generation of farmers among our future generations.
